OBJECT NOTES

The piece, in full.

Rift is organised around a narrow interval of darkness. Its solid smoked-oak top is lifted twelve millimetres above two cast-aluminium fins, allowing light to pass beneath the surface and reducing the visual weight of a table made for ten.

The underside is shaped continuously rather than edged, so the profile changes from a fine perimeter to a substantial central spine. The two bases are offset just enough to open the long elevations while preserving generous knee clearance.

Each table is assembled and finished to order. Natural variation in the timber and the fine evidence of casting are retained as part of the piece rather than concealed.

MATERIAL / METHOD

What it is made from, and how.

MATERIALS + FINISH

Solid European oak; recycled cast aluminium; concealed stainless-steel fixings.

Deep-smoked oak with low-sheen hardwax oil; bead-blasted aluminium sealed with clear wax.

PRODUCTION METHOD

Oak boards are selected for tonal continuity, air-seasoned, then joined into a wide elliptical blank. The top is CNC-roughed before its perimeter and underside are refined by hand.

The paired bases are sand-cast from recycled aluminium, bead-blasted, inspected for stability, and dry-fitted to the timber spine before final finishing and numbered assembly.

BEFORE AND AFTER DELIVERY

Specify it well. Keep it for longer.

Customisation

Available from 220 to 340 cm in length following structural review. Oak may be specified in natural, smoked, or blackened finishes; base metal may be clear, graphite, or dark bronze.

Bespoke dimensions and finish samples are quoted before production. A signed drawing is required for all non-standard sizes.

Care

Dust with a soft dry cloth. Remove spills promptly with a lightly dampened cloth and dry in the direction of the grain. Avoid silicone polishes, abrasives, and direct heat.

The hardwax finish can be renewed locally by a professional furniture conservator.

Delivery

Delivered in three components for specialist on-site assembly. Access routes must accommodate the full tabletop dimensions.

White-glove delivery, installation, packaging removal, and international crating are quoted by destination.
