OBJECT NOTES

The piece, in full.

Cinder places a soft, compact volume inside an exposed walnut armature. Four shaped timber blades rise from the floor, turn inward to support the upholstered shell, and continue into low arms.

The shell is deliberately firmer at its edge and softer at the centre. A narrow reveal keeps fabric clear of the timber, making the relationship between support and comfort visible.

The chair offers the enclosure of an armchair without the bulk of a conventional upholstered base.

MATERIAL / METHOD

What it is made from, and how.

MATERIALS + FINISH

Solid and laminated American walnut; moulded natural-fibre shell; high-resilience foam; high-twist ivory wool; wool felt glides.

Deep smoked walnut with low-sheen oil; warm-ivory wool with matching stitched seams.

PRODUCTION METHOD

Matched walnut blanks are laminated, shaped in mirrored pairs, and joined to concealed rails with housed timber connections. Every touch edge is refined by hand before oiling.

The shell is pressed from natural fibre. Foam densities are mapped across the seat and back before the wool cover is hand-fitted with two continuous side seams.

BEFORE AND AFTER DELIVERY

Specify it well. Keep it for longer.

Customisation

Choose from KORVAE wool, mohair, and leather. Customer’s own material is accepted after suitability testing; contrast piping is omitted to preserve the shell line.

Walnut is available natural, lightly smoked, or blackened, with a physical sample approved before production.

Care

Vacuum the wool at low power with a soft upholstery attachment. Blot liquids immediately; professional upholstery cleaning is recommended.

Dust the timber dry and renew the oiled finish locally when needed. Avoid alcohol and abrasive cleaners.

Delivery

Delivered fully assembled and wrapped in a reusable fitted cover. Contract packaging is available for consolidated orders.

Allow an 85 cm clear access route.
