OBJECT NOTES

The piece, in full.

Gauge gives a long timber beam the visual discipline of an architectural section. Its broad faces are selected for grain continuity, while every touch edge is softened by hand.

A narrow leather pad occupies two-thirds of the top, leaving one timber end available for a bag, book, or small object. Four block feet are set inward so the bench appears to span beyond its supports.

It works at the foot of a bed, along a gallery wall, or as a compact waiting seat.

MATERIAL / METHOD

What it is made from, and how.

MATERIALS + FINISH

Solid and veneered American walnut; vegetable-tanned saddle leather; natural latex padding; recycled felt glides.

Hand-rubbed walnut oil; saddle-tan leather with tonal saddle stitching.

PRODUCTION METHOD

Walnut boards and matched veneer are assembled around a torsion-resistant timber core, then planed and refined so the grain reads continuously across the beam.

The leather pad is laminated over natural latex, edge-painted, saddle-stitched, and attached from below for future replacement.

BEFORE AND AFTER DELIVERY

Specify it well. Keep it for longer.

Customisation

Leather is available in natural, saddle tan, tobacco, and dark brown. Walnut may be natural oiled, lightly smoked, or blackened.

Lengths from 120 to 210 cm are available following a structural check.

Care

Dust walnut with a dry soft cloth and remove spills promptly with a lightly dampened cloth. Condition leather sparingly twice a year in normal residential use.

Avoid buckles or sharp objects that may score the timber or leather.

Delivery

Delivered fully assembled in a reusable protective sleeve and timber outer case.

Two people should lift the bench from beneath the beam.
